Administration DivisionThe Administration Division of the Van Alstyne Police Department handles a wide variety of responsibilities, including: Training, Personnel, Budget, and Property Management.
Training
Training is responsible for prospective employee recruitment, including screening, testing, interviewing, and conducting background investigations. It also disseminates training bulletins, operational procedure changes, and additions/revisions to the Van Alstyne Police Department Policy Manual. Training oversees mandates of the Commission on Peace Officers’ standards and training, career development and continuing education. It also tracks the job-related training of employees for the purpose of encouraging and maintaining the standards of the Police Department.
Property Management
Property Management is responsible for the intake of all property booked as evidence, safekeeping or found. All property must be verified, properly catalogued and stored until needed for court release or other disposition. The property clerk maintains property records to ensure that the chain of custody is maintained. Upon receipt of disposition instructions from either investigators or the court, items are pulled for destruction, auction, donation or conversion for City use. All efforts are made to locate the owners of found property. All persons requesting items for pick-up must do so by appointment only.

Staff Services
Staff Services is responsible for purchasing, inventory, and
issue of all departmental equipment and supplies (other
than fleet maintenance). The section assists in preparation
of the department budget, and serves to enter budget information into the city's budget system.
Technical Services Coordinator
The Coordinator is responsible for arranging the database maintenance, troubleshooting computer issues, technical project management, training and web page updates.
Crime Analyst
The Analyst is responsible for the collection and analyzing of data for the department. This data is
analyzed and used to better focus patrol and other elements to better serve the City.
